Heyyyy there, everyone!

So I recently had a revelation of sorts: I hate blogging, LOL.

OK, so maybe hate is a strong word, but I deeply dislike writing blogs. It stresses me out to think about what to write, and since I’m trying to listen more to my intuition these days and do more of what lights me up instead of what brings me down, blogging’s out!

And guess what’s in?! Vlogging!

Yup, welcome to my first official vlog 🙂 I hope you like it, and if you do, I’d love to hear from you! Leave me a comment below, or shoot me an email: hilary@hilaryglaus.com!

So without further ado, here’s what’s on my spirit today. You can find the “show” notes below!

  1. This vlog topic was inspired by an 8-year old FB status update that popped up on my newsfeed:
  2. 8 years ago, I was no where NEAR as emotionally “evolved” as I am now, and this critique–which I now realize had ZERO to do with me–devastated me.
  3. I used to think that all I had to offer the world was my body and how I looked, and that pursuit consumed my life to the point that I was always either dieting, bingeing (because my diets were so restrictive) or exercising.
  4. I was so “sick” that my flawed logic lead me to conclude that someone’s UNSOLICITED opinion of MY body mattered more than my own opinion. Say WHA??!??!
  5. I used to not know that there was any way other than to white-knuckle my way through the holidays with all this all-or-nothing, black-and-white thinking.
  6. Control was my drug of choice in those days.
  7. What are some tips I share that helped me that might help you if you too struggle with all-or-nothing thinking?
    1. Remember not to fall into the trap of thinking that because your willpower is strong in this particular moment, it will always be this strong (’cause it won’t…’cause willpower ebbs and flows, and the decisions we make throughout the day diminish it).
      1. We don’t need more willpower–we need tools and strategies to help us CONSERVE the amount that we have.
    2. Remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare!
      1. Slow and steady wins the race, 100% of the time.
      2. Living in the gray is absolutely what’s going to get you to where you want to be, health-wise.
      3. It may not be sexy, but it works.
    3. Other’s people’s opinions of your body don’t matter–the only opinion that matters is your own.
      1. “Once you are OK with how you are now, once you embrace your body, once you embrace where you’re at in this moment and you’re happy with how you are, that’s the point at which you can finally start to make lasting changes.”
      2. If you never lose another pound, could you be happy?
